Summary

P-MITE is a database of miniature inverted transposable elements (MITEs) identified de novo from over 40 plant genomes. It's intended to provide data about MITE sequences and families and includes other resources for biologists who are working in related disciplines. It also provides software that can be downloaded and used for de novo identification of MITEs in other genomes.

So far, P-MITE includes 2,294,783 MITE-related sequences from 41 species. These MITEs have been classified into a total of 3,370 subfamilies. All the data deposited in this database provide invaluable resources for annotation of newly sequenced genomes and comparative genomics.
